In this space located in Taichung, where the aesthetics of the shoe industry intertwine, light and shadow dance together, resembling a theatrical performance. The dark glass display cabinets conceal treasures, only revealing their quiet, striking beauty when the lights are turned on. Every piece of furniture, from the sound system to the fireplace, is a carefully chosen detail that harmonizes with the owner's personality. The deep blue curtains billow gently, infusing the environment with dramatic emotion, showcasing the layers and depth of life. Here, it is not just a residence; it is a narrative of existence, where time stands still, inviting immersion in every detail.

This design project was carried out in Taichung, Taiwan for a client who is engaged in the shoe industry and places high value on aesthetics, brands, and taste. The project therefore reflects the taste and preferences of the client with a focus on the expression of spatial and theatrical stage concepts.
1. Convertible display cabinets
In Taiwan and other countries which have been affected by Japanese culture, it is a common habit to change shoes before entering indoor areas. This is not common in other countries. We have therefore developed a display area in a rectangular vestibule to accommodate the shoe cabinets in line with the characteristics of the client’s profession.
Due to the utilization of dark glass panels for the display cabinets. the objects are not visible if the lights are turned off. They turn into eye-catching highlights if the lights are turned on. The functional cabinets for daily use shoes are only revealed by sliding the movable cabinets in front of them.
2. Selections……..
Every implement and object which is placed in this space was carefully selected based on its design and color. This includes the stereo, the sofa, the coffee tables, floor lamps, wall clocks, and fireplace which are all exquisite and in complete harmony. The main color tones and highlights are blue, red, and golden copper. Gray is the base color. The white-colored area of the floor (chiseled white stone materials) forms a contrast with the dark-gray color tone of the ceiling. This generates a sense of tension and a fusion of liveliness and tranquility resembling a stage play.
3. Drapery
The space features dark blue drapery and curtains transforming the hazy space into a theater stage. The drapery also creates different auras. The blue velvet curtain creates a classic theater atmosphere with a hint of mystery.
4. Accentuated details
Light source controls create a play of light and shadow. Fine and delicate travertine forms the base material of the clean wall surface which features a modern sundial-type clock and a gas fireplace in perfect harmony. All complicated switches and systems are concealed in the delicate stone door panels. The details interact with the furniture, exhibiting a quest for ultimate quality.
5. Contrast
Through accentuated contrasts a sense of theatrical tension is created. In contrast to the black and white color tones of the clear and bright kitchen, the corridor leading to the bedroom exudes a darker ambience.
