Through elements such as the pavilion on the pond, light and shadow cast by grille lines, orderly metal "candle" lights, a stone bridge crossing water, a towering metal double-door entrance, and the bamboo-lined main wall in the lobby, we aim to create a new design style in Tainan’s ancient capital, rich in cultural hints and memories.
The lobby features white stone with gray veining as a backdrop, complemented by a communal kitchen for urban lifestyle gatherings, offering a majestic space experience with books, events, and an exquisite aesthetic that accommodates gatherings with guests and communal dining.
Additional amenities, including floating spaces over water, dual fitness areas, and a second-floor library with a rich collection of books, as well as dual garden spaces on the rooftop, display the refined lifestyle of a hotel-style residence in Tainan's newly developed areas.
At night, the tranquil metal grille components gently diffuse light, creating a lantern-like base structure. Combined with small hills, woodlands, and water features, this urban sanctuary serves as a serene garden—this encapsulates the essence of "Tao Li Yuan" in its name.

Ancient Ambience and Bamboo Elements
I. Night Splendor of the Ancient Capital
Our goal was to create something to echo the spirit of the ancient city Tainan. The light beams penetrating the wood-slat façade resemble the candlelight inside a lantern emerging in a night-like scene. The modern design is infused with an ancient ambience through visual effects generated by the corridor with symmetrically arranged lighting and the bridge-like structure spanning water.
II. Daylight variations
The light-reflecting lobby utilizes a wood-slat structure and atrium to capture the daylight variations sensitive to the flow of time during daytime. At night, the lobby welcomes guests through a sunken structure and various light source features resembling lanterns and candlelight. An ancient ambience is created through carefully designed artificial light projections.
III. Bamboo lines
In continuation of our work in recent years, this project is also characterized by high attention to detail. The theme of the main lobby wall is centered around a theme composed of bamboo elements resembling fine lines reminiscent of the ancient capital Tainan. Moso Bamboo from the Zhushan area has been preserved through boiling and placed in acryl tubes which are connected with metallic rings. A light-projecting, staggered design with a synthesis of thick and thin elements has been utilized to create this unique “bamboo line” art object.
